Talking to Bobby last year, he told me that when Col Bruce got sick and had to cut back on touring, the Codetalkers became a trio. If memory serves me correctly that was late '06. He toured with one lineup for awhile as BLR and the Codetalkers. He and his wife had a baby girl back in 07 and he cut his touring back. When he started back on tour, he had a new drummer and bass player. IMO they were better together than the first generation of Col Bruce-less BLR & Codetalkers.
That lasted about two years into 09 and then he stopped touring altogether (creative differences???) and only did local solo gigs near Atlanta.
Looks like he got his feet underneath him again and started touring again as the BLR Trio with the new lineup.
So, long answer short, yes the Codetalkers broke up. Or more accurately, as Bobby said, they had evolved past the point that was The Codetalkers so the name was changed.
